Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport has consolidated its leadership in the region according to Skytrax, being recognized as the Best Airport in South America in 2026 for the eighth time (fifth consecutive). It has maintained a high-quality standard, standing out for its customer service, cleanliness, and efficiency, with a 4-star rating.
This recognition is granted by the renowned international auditing and analysis firm for air transport, which bases its awards on global satisfaction surveys conducted with millions of passengers around the world. Skytrax is a key benchmark in the airport industry, and its awards are considered one of the highest standards of excellence in the sector.
Recognitions

Energy efficiency award - 2021
The Ministry of Mines and Energy, the National Association of Public Services and Communications Companies (Andesco), the Mining and Energy Planning Unit (UPME), and the Territorial Development Finance Corporation (Findeter) recognized El Dorado International Airport in its 7th edition for the implementation of the "Retrofit" lighting system in the air terminal.
Skytrax: Best Staff in South America - 2021
El Dorado Airport was recognized by the British firm Skytrax as the airport with the best staff in the region. Likewise, it is the only one in South America to receive the airport excellence award for the implementation of biosecurity protocols. In the global ranking, El Dorado placed 43rd among 500 air terminals evaluated, moving up 10 places compared to the previous year.
Water heroes (EAAB) - 2021
The Bogotá Water and Sewerage Company (EAAB), as part of its “We are water” strategy, launched the “Water Heroes” campaign, which seeks to make visible, promote, and highlight the good practices of organizations and citizens who work every day to care for water and fight climate change. El Dorado International Airport was recognized as the first “Water Hero” for its commitment to sustainable water management.
“CHECK-IN” biosecurity seal and ‘SAFEGUARD’ protection seal - 2019 - 2020 - 2021
For the second consecutive year, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, with the support of Procolombia and Icontec, and the certifying body Bureau Veritas, certified El Dorado International Airport with the “SAFEGUARD” and “CHECK-IN” biosecurity seals after evaluating the biosecurity strategies implemented in each of the air terminals.
“Green Airport Recognition" ACI-LAC - 2019 - 2020 - 2021
As part of its commitment to sustainability, El Dorado International Airport received in 2020 the ACI-LAC Green Airport recognition for the ""El Dorado International Airport Integrated Waste Management Program"", becoming a benchmark both for national industries and for other airports around the world. The ACI-LAC Green Airport Recognition aims to recognize and highlight the outstanding environmental performance of Airports in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Certifications

Zero Waste Certification - 2018 – 2019 – 2020 - 2021
The Airport is a pioneer in Latin America in receiving the Zero Waste Management System certification in the Gold Category, for its Solid Waste Management Model. It currently manages to recover 65% of the total waste generated by airport operations, sending 35% of the waste to final disposal (landfill), thereby contributing to extending the landfill’s useful life. This recognition confirms that El Dorado Airport is committed to good sustainable development practices.
LEED PLATINUM Certification (EBOM 4.1) - 2021
With a score of 82 out of 100, and after a 12-month evaluation, El Dorado International Airport receives this certification, making it the first airport in the world certified LEED Platinum (EBOM,4.1), as recognition of the progress in consolidating a sustainable operation.
Platinum Member Zero Waste - 2021
For the fourth consecutive year, ICONTEC awarded El Dorado Airport the Zero Waste certification, making it a Platinum Member, for its commitment and performance in implementing comprehensive solid waste management programs, as well as for reducing its impact on the environment.
