Bogotá, April 9, 2025. For the seventh time and fourth consecutive year, El Dorado has been recognized as the Best Airport in South America by Skytrax. This honor is granted by the renowned international aviation audit and analysis firm, which bases its awards on comprehensive global passenger satisfaction surveys conducted among millions of travelers worldwide. Skytrax is a key benchmark in the airport industry, and its awards are considered one of the highest standards of excellence in the sector.
El Dorado International Airport is the only airport in Latin America to have received this recognition more than six times and to have held the top spot for four consecutive years.
For Natalí Leal, General Manager of OPAIN, “This recognition reflects our commitment to every passenger passing through El Dorado. We have focused on enhancing the travel experience with more comfortable spaces, streamlined processes, and services tailored to the needs of millions of users. Being recognized as the best airport in South America is the result of the hard work of the entire airport community to provide a safe, efficient, diverse, and welcoming environment where every journey starts and ends memorably.”
Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, commented, “Being named the best airport in South America for the fourth consecutive year is an impressive achievement. Passengers continue to place their trust in the experience El Dorado offers, highlighting the airport's ability to maintain high standards year after year.”
According to Skytrax, Bogotá is a major connecting hub for South America. El Dorado stands out for its improvements in providing preferential assistance for travelers with invisible disabilities through the Sunflower program, as well as for its 56 self-check-in kiosks, 46 autonomous baggage drop machines, 40 boarding pass scanners, and 44 biometric migration machines, all of which are part of its innovation efforts to ensure a smooth, safe, and comfortable experience for travelers.
This milestone adds to the Platinum Award granted by Cirium in 2025, recognizing El Dorado's exceptional performance in passenger impact, operational excellence, and growth.
About the World Travel Awards:
The World Travel Awards are the most prestigious accolades in the airport industry, voted on by customers through the largest annual global airport satisfaction survey. These awards are recognized as the global benchmark for quality in the airport industry, evaluating customer service and facilities at over 565 airports. The survey and awards are entirely independent, with no influence or control from the airports themselves.
The 2025 awards are based on responses from the World Airport Survey, completed by customers from over 100 nationalities during the evaluation period, from August 2024 to February 2025.
The survey assesses the passenger experience across all key airport service and facility areas, from check-in, arrivals, connections, retail, security/immigration, to the departure gate.
