Bogotá D.C., March 16, 2023.- El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, for the second consecutive year, has been awarded as the Best Airport in South America in the latest edition of the Skytrax World Airport Awards. This recognition is the result of the hard work of the airport community and its commitment to providing exceptional service.
The award given by Skytrax is considered one of the most prestigious in the aviation industry, as it is based on surveys of millions of passengers from 60 countries around the world. The survey evaluates the experience of travelers throughout the airport, checking key performance indicators of services and products that include check-in processes, arrivals, transfers, purchases, security and migration.
According to Natalí Leal, General Manager of Opain, the operating company of the Bogotá airport, "receiving this recognition is a source of immense pride and satisfaction for all the people, companies and entities that work tirelessly to make the operation of El Dorado possible. With this recognition, we continue to consolidate the airport of all Colombians as a benchmark in the region. We will continue to work with excellence and dedication to offer exceptional service to the more than 35.5 million passengers who pass through our terminal and generate greater competitiveness and growth for the country."
Additionally, El Dorado ranked fourth among the best airports in the world with traffic between 30 and 40 million passengers. Currently, it is the first airport in South America and the second in Latin America with the highest passenger transport, mobilizing more than 35.5 million people in 2022.
These two recognitions were possible thanks to the coordinated work between OPAIN, the airlines, the Civil Aeronautics, the National Infrastructure Agency and the other authorities and companies of the airport community.
El Dorado will continue working to improve its infrastructure, technology and service to continue growing and contributing to the connectivity and competitiveness of Colombia, with sustainability as a transversal axis.
