The Airport El Dorado becomes a center for prevention and education to prevent Cervical Cancer: there will be free screening and vaccination.
- El Aeropuerto El Dorado and the SALBO Foundation have joined forces to raise awareness and prevent HPV and cervical cancer.
- 87% of women vaccinated against cervical cancer can prevent the disease at an early age.
In collaboration with the SALBO Foundation and with the aim of promoting the prevention of cervical cancer and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), El Dorado Airport will carry out screening and vaccination campaigns against the Virus completely free of charge for all interested members of the airport community, neighboring communities, and passengers who wish to access this initiative.
In this regard, screening tests will be conducted at the terminal on September 21 and 22, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additionally, there will be a vaccination point on September 26 and 27, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. According to the WHO, the Human Papillomavirus is the causative agent in 99% of cases of Cervical Cancer. Furthermore, the rate of this disease is reduced by up to 87% in women vaccinated against the virus.
It is worth noting that the screening test will only be performed on women aged 30 to 65, while vaccination will be administered to girls aged 9 to 17, respectively.
Among other initiatives planned to highlight the need to prevent this disease, there are: information and awareness-raising talks for employees, awareness campaign at the airport, airport screens, and social media.
With initiatives like these, El Dorado continues to establish itself as an airport that provides memorable experiences and services to the more than 35 million people who pass through the terminal annually.
