Reading is Flying: Spaces to Promote Reading in Childhood Arrive at El Dorado with Digital Books and Audiobooks
October 22, 2024 - El Dorado Airport presents its new spaces "Reading is Flying." Created in partnership with Grupo Planeta, these areas aim to promote and encourage reading among the children who pass through the airport daily.
Thanks to these colorful reading spaces, young travelers can wait for their flights in safe and open areas where they can read, listen, have fun, and learn with memorable characters from Rafael Pombo's fables, such as Rin Rin Renacuajo and La Pobre Viejecita, voiced by Carlos Vives and other artists in Pombo Musical.
They will also have the chance to immerse themselves in some of Disney's most famous stories, such as Princess Moana, the incredible internal universe presented in Inside Out, and the fun adventures of Cars, alongside a book designed for future artists in collaboration with Toy Story.
The magical narratives of Colombian illustrator Valentina Toro and the books from the Compas and Yolo Aventuras, YouTubers bringing the best of the digital world to literature, are part of this project to boost reading among the children passing through El Dorado.
“With the inauguration of these new children's reading spaces, we aim to enrich the experience of our youngest travelers and foster their love for reading from an early age. We want families traveling with children to use these spaces to have fun, learn, and relax while waiting for their flight,” says Natalí Leal, General Manager of OPAIN.
Reading, a fundamental tool in childhood development, enhances linguistic skills, boosts creativity, and fosters empathy. This is why El Dorado, in partnership with Grupo Planeta, is proud to provide children with spaces where they can fly through reading, acquire new knowledge, and enjoy digital, auditory, and visual experiences that engage all their senses.
“For 75 years, Grupo Planeta has been committed to creating spaces to discuss books and their authors, both male and female writers. This partnership with El Dorado will allow us to provide more experiences where parents can learn more about their children, and moments where kids will soar with their imagination before boarding the plane. We thank El Dorado for trusting us, as well as the authors and partners of Grupo Planeta who are part of this noble project: Disney and the Pombo Foundation,” comments Hugo Marroquín, Director of Marketing and Communication for Grupo Planeta in Colombia.
These two new areas will be located at Pier A for international flight departures and Pier D for national flight departures and will feature first chapters, audiobooks, and audiovisual materials designed to foster a love for reading and stimulate children's imagination, allowing them to embark on thousands of adventures.
